Anna Gistelli

Administrative Associate

Hi! I am Anna G! I have lived here in Eugene since I was 4 years old, and I have been part of the Co-op Family Center since 2013. I love biking, cooking, music, reading, and watching movies! I began my time here with an internship through Lane Community College’s Early Childhood Education program. I became an Assistant shortly after, and then a Lead Teacher!

The relationships I have built and the sense of community that this center has given me over the years keeps my passion for teaching young children alive. Authentic relationships are the foundation of learning for children, and that is what is most important to me. Each child that comes through the classroom I consider a true friend that I get to spend my days with. I have the privilege of sharing my feelings, my interests and wonderings alongside theirs while supporting their autonomy and unique way of thinking. I believe the role of the teacher is to be a researcher alongside the children, as well as embracing wonder, curiosity, and diversity in our everyday life.

I believe that a child must be a leader in their own discoveries, while also fostering the importance of parents and families as partners in that journey. Children are vital members of our community with rights and opinions that must be heard and protected. I am a strong advocate for letting children explore their emotions and find ways to solve their own conflicts.

I teach children because they are constant reminders that being unapologetically yourself is the truest and richest way to live
